Our Guide to Mastering Your Makeup in Only 5 Minutes!

Whether you are a busy working woman, a mum-on-the-go or if you are like me and sleep past your alarm clock everyday and only have 5 minutes to get ready, looking 'put together' can be hard when you are in a hurry. Here is a list of products I use to help me achieve a flawless makeup look in only 5 minutes!

1. Moisturise

First thing's first – MOISTURISE! Use your favourite moisturiser to hydrate and prep your skin for your makeup. My favourite moisturiser is Dermalogica Active Moist because it is a lightweight and oil-free lotion which suits my oily to combination skin type. This moisturiser actively combats surface dehydration, while smoothing the skin’s surface with botanical extracts. I apply this after I cleanse while my face is still a bit damp using light, upward strokes.This step takes me around 30 seconds to apply. Be sure to massage it in well for extra plump skin.

2. Prime

Next is a primer – as Napoleon Perdis says "not to prime is a crime!" I love the Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF 30 because it smooths my fine lines, brightens and primes my skin for a flawless finish. I also love that it includes SPF which is great for daytime makeup. This primer has been formulated with pearl powder and natural minerals to help balance skin tone and enhance luminosity and radiance. Velvety silicones have been combined with soy protein to even out skin texture to create an instantly smooth surface. This step takes me around 30 seconds to apply.

3. Foundation

I then take the Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream and gently pat into my skin with my fingers, however, you can use a sponge or brush. Glow Time is actually Jane Iredale's most full-coverage foundation! It works to minimise pores, smooth and brighten the skin as well as disguise fine lines and wrinkles. I love this BB cream because it is a mineral product that gives me full coverage look effortlessly and leaves my skin looking natural and radiant. This step takes me around 1 minute to apply. Layer it on areas that need more coverage or concealing.

4. Contour

Next I use the Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette to bronze, blush and highlight my face in three easy moves. First, I use the contour tone shade underneath my cheekbones and temples. I then smile and apply the colour shade in soft strokes on the apple of my cheeks and lastly I finish with the highlighter tone on the top of my cheekbones for added definition. This step takes me around 1.5 minutes to apply.

5. Mascara

Now your base is done and it is time for mascara! The Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara is my favourite mascara ever. This mascara is perfect for my sensitive eyes and it strengthens, lengthens and adds volume to my lashes. The flexible silicon hourglass brush glides from root to the tip of the lashes, creating perfectly curled lashes with the deepest jet black pigments. This step takes me around 45 seconds to apply.

6. Brows

Now for brows, i use a brow gel as it is super quick and easy and leaves my brows looking well-groomed and defined. The Elizabeth Arden Statement Brow Gel combs, fills, shapes and defines brows and is buildable from natural to bold for your custom brow statement. I love that it has a smudge-proof formula for up to 12 hours of wear. Simply brush your brow hairs with the brush in the opposite direction of growth moving from the tail ends to the inner corner to thicken. Then use the leftover pigment on the brush to comb brows back up and out. This step takes me 30 seconds to apply.

7. Lips

Lastly, I use the Eye of Horus Bio Lip Elixir to nourish, repair and regenerate my lips. This tinted lip elixir is formulated with 100% natural ingredients. A blend of nourishing oils, waxes and butters are combined to condition, plump and firm the lips while Moringa, argan, castor, macadamia and sweet almond oils leave lips feeling perfectly protected. This lip elixir leaves a beautiful rose tint with a non-stick, high-gloss finish. This step takes me 15 seconds to apply.
