What Are They And Why Should You Be Using Them?
Did you know that the half of the barrier of the skin is made up of ceramides!? To put it simply, ceramides are lipids that form part of this barrier to help maintain skin moisture. Do We Lose Ceramides?

Aside from ageing, ceramide levels can also be impacted by seasonal changes and excess use of harsh products that deplete the skins pH balance (such as soaps and exfoliants). Another factor that contributes to ceramide loss is diet. Just like how eating poorly can contribute to skin congestion and breakouts, a poor diet can also lead to ceramide loss. To slow down this loss try to incorporate good oils such as avocado and coconut oils, lean proteins and greens.

When the skins ceramide levels begin to deplete it can show quite quickly! The skin may appear dry, flakey and often irritated. In some cases, lack of ceramides can also lead to dermatitis and eczema.
